Job Summary:
The unarmed security guard is responsible for safeguarding property, assets, and personnel. This role requires vigilant monitoring of premises, regular patrolling, and quick responses to any incidents or disturbances. The unarmed guard acts as a deterrent to crime, ensures the safety of individuals on-site, and collaborates with law enforcement or emergency personnel when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patrolling: Perform regular patrols of the premises (inside and outside) to ensure safety, check for suspicious activity, and identify potential hazards.
- Monitoring: Use surveillance equipment (e.g., CCTV cameras) to monitor activities on-site and report any irregularities or security breaches.
- Access Control: Monitor and control access points, check identification, and ensure only authorized personnel or visitors are allowed entry.
- Incident Reporting: Document and report any incidents, suspicious activities, or security breaches according to company procedures. Provide written reports and communicate incidents to supervisors or law enforcement when needed.
- Emergency Response: Act quickly in emergencies such as fires, medical situations, or security breaches, providing initial assistance and contacting appropriate authorities.
- Customer Service: Provide a visible security presence, helping guests, employees, or visitors with directions or answering questions while maintaining professionalism and courtesy.
- Enforcement of Policies: Ensure compliance with company policies, rules, and regulations regarding security, safety, and behavior on the premises.
- Safety Checks: Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment, doors, windows, and other security features to ensure they are in good working order.
- Collaboration: Work in coordination with other security staff, law enforcement, or emergency responders when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Licensing: Security guard license
- Experience: Previous security experience is preferred but not always necessary.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to walk, stand for long periods, and respond to emergency situations.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and interacting with the public.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to remain alert and focused while monitoring premises and looking for potential threats.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and respond appropriately to incidents.
- Customer Service Orientation: Professional demeanor when interacting with the public and employees.
Working Conditions:
- May work indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Shifts may vary, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- On foot patrol or stationed at a security desk depending on the location.
- May require standing for long periods or walking extensive distances.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs for extended periods.
- Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies or disturbances.
- Some physical stamina and dexterity may be required for conducting patrols and performing other duties.
